Transfer Policies & Pickup Rules
Redridge Arms provides appointment-based firearm transfer services in compliance with federal and Washington State law. The following policies help ensure transfers are handled safely, efficiently, and legally.
Appointment Requirement
Redridge Arms operates by appointment to ensure each transfer receives proper attention and documentation review.
Customers will be contacted to schedule an appointment once a firearm arrives or when both parties are ready for a private-party transfer.
Walk-ins may not be available.
Background Checks and Waiting Periods
All firearm transfers are subject to background checks and any waiting periods required by federal or Washington State law.
Redridge Arms does not control the background check process or waiting period timelines.
Customers will be contacted once the transfer is legally cleared for pickup.
Denied Background Check & Return Shipment Policy
All firearm transfers are subject to background checks as required by federal and Washington State law. Redridge Arms does not control the outcome of background checks or the processing decisions made by state or federal authorities.
Transfer service fees cover administrative handling, compliance documentation, and storage of the firearm during the transfer process. These services are performed regardless of the final outcome of the background check.
If a background check results in a denial, unresolved delay, or other outcome preventing completion of the transfer:
• The transfer cannot be completed
• Transfer service fees remain due and are not refundable
• The firearm cannot be released to the customer
In these situations, the customer is responsible for arranging lawful disposition of the firearm. This typically includes one of the following options:
• Return shipment to the original seller
• Transfer to another eligible recipient through a licensed dealer
• Other lawful disposition permitted under applicable law
Return shipping, packaging, insurance, and administrative handling fees are the responsibility of the customer. Redridge Arms will coordinate shipment once payment for applicable fees is received.
If the seller refuses return shipment or cannot accept the firearm, the customer remains responsible for coordinating a lawful resolution and for any storage or administrative fees that may accrue.
Redridge Arms is not responsible for delays, denials, or other outcomes related to background checks.
Firearms that cannot be transferred and remain unclaimed may become subject to storage fees and abandoned property policies as outlined above.
Online Seller Shipment Policy
Customers purchasing firearms from online retailers, auction platforms, or private sellers must contact Redridge Arms before arranging shipment.
This allows Redridge Arms to confirm shipment instructions and ensure the seller has the correct receiving information and licensing documentation.
Firearms shipped without prior coordination may experience delays in processing and may incur additional administrative handling fees.
Customers are responsible for ensuring that sellers comply with all applicable federal and state shipping requirements. Firearms must be shipped by lawful means and from appropriate parties as required by federal law.
Redridge Arms reserves the right to refuse shipments that:
• arrive without prior notice
• are improperly packaged
• are shipped in violation of federal or state law
• are sent from parties who cannot legally ship the firearm
If a shipment cannot be accepted or transferred due to improper shipment or legal restrictions, the customer remains responsible for arranging return shipment or other lawful disposition of the firearm.
Any shipping, return shipping, administrative handling, or storage fees associated with improper shipments are the responsibility of the customer.
Customers are encouraged to confirm shipment details with Redridge Arms before completing any online firearm purchase.
Transfer Refusal & Compliance Policy
Redridge Arms is committed to conducting all firearm transfers in full compliance with federal and Washington State law.
Redridge Arms reserves the right to refuse or discontinue any transfer or service when legality, documentation, or safety concerns arise.
Situations that may result in refusal of service include, but are not limited to:
• incomplete or inconsistent documentation
• inability to verify identity or residency
• suspected violations of federal or state law
• unsafe or suspicious behavior
• attempts to circumvent legal transfer requirements
• requests to complete transactions that appear unlawful
If a transfer cannot be completed due to compliance concerns, the firearm will remain secured and alternative lawful disposition will be required.
Transfer service fees and administrative handling fees may still apply when work has already been performed.
Redridge Arms may require the firearm to be returned to the original seller or transferred to another licensed dealer when a transaction cannot proceed.
These policies are intended to ensure lawful transactions and maintain a safe and compliant environment for all customers.
Transfer Fee Responsibility Policy
Question: “Why do I owe a transfer fee if I didn’t get the gun?”
The answer is because the work was performed.
Transfer service fees cover the administrative handling, documentation, compliance review, and secure storage required to process firearm transfers in accordance with federal and Washington State law.
These services are performed regardless of the final outcome of the transfer.
Transfer fees are therefore earned once the firearm is received and processing begins, and they are not contingent upon approval of the background check or completion of the transfer.
Transfer fees remain due in situations including, but not limited to:
• background check denial
• background check delay that prevents transfer
• customer inability to complete required paperwork
• missing or invalid identification
• firearm determined to be unlawful to transfer
• customer decision to cancel the transfer after the firearm has been received
• return of the firearm to the seller
If a transfer cannot be completed, the firearm must be returned to the seller or transferred through another lawful arrangement. Any return shipping, packaging, insurance, or administrative handling fees associated with this process are the responsibility of the customer.
Redridge Arms will coordinate return shipment or lawful disposition once applicable fees have been paid.
Customers are encouraged to confirm eligibility and documentation requirements before arranging firearm shipments to avoid unnecessary costs or delays.
Firearm Shipment Policy
If purchasing a firearm from an online retailer or auction site, please contact Redridge Arms before the firearm ships.
This allows us to confirm shipment instructions and ensure the seller has the correct receiving information.
Firearms shipped without prior notice may experience delays in processing.
Intake Appointments
During the intake appointment, required federal and Washington State paperwork will be completed and the transfer process will begin.
Customers must bring valid identification and any required documentation.
Incomplete paperwork or missing documentation may delay the transfer process.
Pickup Appointments
Firearm pickup is scheduled by appointment after background check approval and any required waiting period.
Customers must bring valid identification when picking up their firearm.
Transfers cannot be completed until all legal requirements are satisfied.
Storage Policy
Firearms are held securely after arrival.
Customers are expected to schedule pickup promptly once the transfer is legally cleared.
A grace period may apply before storage fees begin. Storage fees may apply for items not picked up within the stated timeframe.
Private Party Transfers
For private-party transfers in Washington, both the buyer and seller typically attend the scheduled appointment so the required documentation and compliance steps can be completed.
Both parties must provide valid identification.
Transfers That Cannot Be Completed
A transfer cannot be completed if:
• Required identification is missing
• Background check requirements are not satisfied
• Documentation is incomplete
• The transfer would violate federal or Washington State law
Redridge Arms reserves the right to refuse service if legality or safety concerns arise.
Abandoned or Unclaimed Firearms
Firearms received by Redridge Arms for transfer, consignment, storage, or other services must be picked up in a timely manner once the transfer is legally approved or the service is complete.
Customers will be contacted when a firearm is ready for pickup. It is the customer’s responsibility to schedule a pickup appointment within the allowed timeframe.
A 7-day grace period is provided after transfer approval or service completion.
After the grace period:
• Storage fees begin to accrue
• Additional administrative handling fees may apply
• Redridge Arms may require an appointment within a defined timeframe for pickup.
If a firearm remains unclaimed for more than 30 days after notification, Redridge Arms may take additional action to resolve the situation. This may include:
• Continued storage fees
• Return shipment to the original seller or transferring dealer (shipping and handling fees apply)
• Transfer to lawful consignment for recovery of fees
• Other lawful disposition consistent with Washington State and federal regulations
Customers remain responsible for all accumulated fees, return shipping costs, and administrative handling charges related to unclaimed firearms.
Redridge Arms will make reasonable efforts to contact customers using the information provided at the time of service. Customers are responsible for ensuring their contact information remains accurate and for maintaining communication regarding delays.
Failure to respond to communication attempts may result in the firearm being treated as abandoned property under applicable law.
Firearms left unclaimed for extended periods may be subject to lawful disposition to recover storage, administrative, and compliance costs.
Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for:
• Providing accurate information
• Bringing proper identification
• Following all applicable laws
• Scheduling pickup once the transfer is approved
After a firearm is transferred, the customer is responsible for safe handling, storage, and lawful use.
